In hydroponics and aeroponics there is no soil or substrate to buffer mistakes: the roots take everything from the nutrient solution you mix. That makes a clear hydroponic feeding schedule the most important tool in your grow. In this article we show how to feed hydro and aero systems with Rhodos powder nutrients, from clone to flush.
What makes feeding in hydroponics different
- The solution is everything. In hydro and aero systems the nutrient solution is the only source of food, so the composition, EC and pH of your reservoir decide what your plants get.
- A complete nutrient system. In the Rhodos system, Rhodos Base supplies nitrate nitrogen and calcium (26% CaO), while Rhodos Grow and Rhodos Bloom add phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, sulphur and chelated trace elements.
- pH slightly lower than in soil. The Rhodos schedule uses the same pH targets for hydroponics, aeroponics and coco, and slightly higher targets for soil.
The Rhodos hydroponic feeding schedule
The table shows how much of each product to add to 100 L of water in each phase. Dissolve the products in the order listed. The same schedule applies to aeroponics.
| Dissolve in order | Clone | Vegetative | Bloom | Flush |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Gen200 Control | 15 ml | 15 ml | 15 ml | – |
| 2. Rhodos Base | 65 g | 100 g | 100 g | – |
| 3. Rhodos Grow | – | 190 g | – | – |
| 3. Rhodos Bloom | 125 g | – | 190 g | – |
| EC (mS/cm) | 2.0 | 3.0 | 3.0 | < 0.1 |
| pH hydro / aero / coco | 5.8 | 5.5–5.8 | 5.8–6.2 | 6.0–6.4 |

How to mix your hydro nutrient solution
- Start with clean water, preferably osmosis water. With tap water, make sure the starting EC is below 0.4 mS/cm.
- Add Gen200 Control (15 ml per 100 L) and mix well.
- Dissolve Rhodos Base completely. Warm water (20–25 °C) speeds this up.
- Then dissolve Rhodos Grow (vegetative) or Rhodos Bloom (clones and flowering) completely.
- Check the EC and adjust the pH to the range for your phase.
- Only then fill or top up the reservoir of your system.

Hydroponic feeding schedule phase by phase
Clones and seedlings
A lighter mix: 65 g Rhodos Base and 125 g Rhodos Bloom per 100 L, at an EC of 2.0 and pH 5.8. For pre-soaking your propagation medium, see Clone with Confidence: Pre-Soak with Rhodos.
Vegetative stage
100 g Rhodos Base and 190 g Rhodos Grow per 100 L, at an EC of 3.0 and pH 5.5–5.8.
Flowering stage
Switch from Rhodos Grow to Rhodos Bloom: 100 g Rhodos Base and 190 g Rhodos Bloom per 100 L, at an EC of 3.0 and pH 5.8–6.2.
Flush
At the end of the cycle the schedule uses plain water with an EC below 0.1 and pH 6.0–6.4.
Aeroponics
In aeroponics the roots hang in the air and are misted with nutrient solution. The Rhodos schedule treats aeroponics the same as hydroponics: the same grams per 100 L, the same EC and the same pH targets. Make sure every powder is fully dissolved before the solution goes into the system.
Using a feeding computer
Rhodos can also be prepared as stock solutions for a fertigation system or feeding computer, so you can follow the same schedule automatically. Contact us for the Rhodos stock solution schedule.
